Dean's Grants for Student Life
Program open only to current University of Chicago undergraduates in good standing.
Important policy note: Students on leave from the College are ineligible for the Dean's Grants for Student Life.
The Dean's Grants for Student Life
The Dean's Grants for Student Life (DGSL) supports current undergraduates in the College engaged in meaningful student life projects that contribute to the larger University community and are mentored by staff or faculty advisor(s).
You may receive only one DGSL grant over the course of your undergraduate career in the College.
Eligible projects may be individual student endeavors or group/student organization undertakings. Student organizations do not need to be recognized by the Center for Leadership and Involvement.
The Dean's Grants for Student Life Application Deadlines:
Applications for student life projects are reviewed on a monthly basis. Applications must be submitted by midnight of one of the published deadlines to be considered for that cycle. The review committee examines and makes decisions on applications within three weeks following each deadline. Applicants will receive award notifications via email once the committee renders decisions.
Applicants should carefully review all eligibility requirements, application instructions, and review criteria at college.uchicago.edu/student-life/deans-fund before beginning the application process. Any application that does not fully comply with the stated requirements or is submitted after the listed deadlines will not be considered. Only complete applications with recommendations will be reviewed by the committee. Recommendation letters should be sent by the deadline of a given cycle, but the committee allows a grace period of one week after the deadline to receive letters for an application to be reviewed. Applicants should notify their recommenders of the deadline when requesting their support, and follow up with them on the submission of letters.
Note: This application is for the Dean's Grants for Student Life. These grants do not support academic research or BA thesis projects. If you are seeking support for research-related activity including presenting your undergraduate research at a conference, please check resources available through the Research Grant and Scholars Program [https://ccrf.uchicago.edu/undergraduate-research/research-grant-and-scholars-programs].
